Dr. Christoph
Weisser
Technical Lead Data Science
BASF
Christoph serves as Technical Lead Data Science at BASF, where he oversees the creation, deployment, and adoption of cutting-edge AI solutions. In addition to this role, as an AI Evangelist, he establishes and leads collaborations with universities on AI topics and supervises industrial PhD students. Christoph's career began in the financial industry in London, focusing on investment banking before transitioning to Data Science and AI consulting. His educational background includes a PhD in Applied Statistics with summa cum laude from Georg-August University Göttingen, complemented by Master's degrees from the University of St Andrews and the University of Oxford as a scholar of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. In the field of data science and AI, Christoph has co-authored over 25 publications, including articles in journals such as the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, the Journal of Applied Statistics, and Computational Statistics, as well as papers accepted at leading conferences like IEEE, LREC-COLING, and ACL. Christoph is passionate about teaching and coaching, having taught graduate-level courses and summer schools in Statistics and Deep Learning.
