Mak leads AI and data science at Gather, a Palo Alto-based startup. He is building a platform that enables everyone to leverage AI over all of their own data, and his team is at the forefront of designing autonomous and intelligent AI agents. Previously, he led data science and engineering at MetaMap (identity verification provider based in LATAM/Africa), dealing with computer vision and graph-enabled machine learning. Prior to that, he led the Data Science team at Shape Security/F5 Networks, where he built real-time machine learning systems to help Fortune 500 companies detect and stop fraud and bad bots. In his past life, Mak worked at the intersection of cybersecurity, cybercrime and personal data protection at the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, where he led the creation of Singapore’s cybersecurity legislation and strategy.
