Katie is Senior Director of Machine Learning Engineering at GSK. She leads several teams of machine learning engineers across the US and Europe that are focused on building novel machine learning capabilities for target identification and target validation, with a focus on RNA therapeutics. The work supports the pre-clinical portfolio across a wide range of disease areas and modalities, and aims to identify the most efficacious and tractable point of intervention for treating disease. Prior to joining GSK, Katie was the technical lead for the Artificial Intelligence team in Early Clinical Development at Genentech, where her work primarily focused on developing machine learning methods for biomarker identification and prediction of clinical outcomes in early phase clinical trials.

Headline session: AI at GSK
The GSK AI/ML team is focused on the application and development of AI methodology at the intersection of functional genomics and human genetics for target discovery, causal machine learning and clinical applications. In this session, Kim will share some of the innovative ways GSK is using AI and technology to get ahead of disease, such as the internally developed LLMs that possess SOTA reasoning for science.
