Mukund Umalkar is an experienced AI leader helping banks turn GenAI into business outcomes. With over two decades of experience, he leads GenAI strategy and execution for ING Wholesale Bank, where he developed a global operating model to identify and scale AI opportunities across front, middle, and back office. His work spans Financial Markets, Corporate Lending, Transaction Services, Risk, and Operations. Mukund has played a pivotal role in forging Fintech partnerships to address complex challenges and accelerate innovation. His deep understanding of the Fintech ecosystem has enabled him to integrate emerging technologies into regulated banking environments with measurable impact. Previously, Mukund served as Director of Innovation at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he launched the London Innovation Lab and built high-impact Fintech collaborations. He is passionate about helping complex, global organizations unlock AI at scale with responsible governance and strategic clarity. Mukund holds a Computer Science degree and an MBA from University of Chicago and is a frequent speaker at global finance and AI conferences.
