Jack is one of the great modern inventors, as well as Professor and Innovator in Residence at Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation at UC Berkeley. At Oculus, Jack designed and built the Oculus DK1 and DK2 virtual reality headsets, prior to the acquisition of the company in 2014 by Facebook for $2 billion. He holds numerous U.S. patents for inventions in software, audio effects, virtual reality, motion control, computer peripherals, and video game hardware and controllers. Jack was the Chief Engineer leading the hardware and intellectual property development for the GuitarHero franchise. Jack’s most recent R&D project, at Black Lab LLC, is a vehicle which incorporates augmented features and a computerized display.

Oculus VR: From concept to Meta's $2B acquisition
Jack McCauley is an engineer, hardware designer, inventor, video game developer, and philanthropist. Jack is best known for designing the guitars and drums for the Guitar Hero video game series, and as a co-founder and chief engineer at Oculus VR. Jack co-founded Oculus VR with Palmer Luckey, Brendan Iribe, Nate Mitchell, Michael Antonov, and Andrew Scott Reisse. Jack produced the DK1 and DK2 products for Oculus and managed the engineering design and production until the company was acquired by Facebook for $2 billion. In this talk, he'll share a little more about that remarkable journey.
